Background

The Nenwe Integrity Foundation is a non political group of like-minded Nenwerians founded in 2009 and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). Then the Foundation championed the reception in honour of one of our sons, who was promoted then to the rank of an Air Commodore, a rare feat in the Nigerian Air Force. Since then, the Foundation has grown in leaps in bounds, from a modest 12 members to an active membership of 60.

Nenwe Integrity Foundation is an exclusive association, open only to responsible and respectful sons and daughters of Nenwe, one of the major towns in the present day Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State. NIF is for people  who have a burning zeal for the development of the town. Such members must also in addition be Amadu Nenwe and must have genuine means of livelihood to take care of their families and contribute to the development of Nenwe town. Even as its membership is exclusive, it is not a millionaire’s club as many people erroneously believe. Rather, Integrity is our watchword!

Our Mission

Our mission is simple but challenging: “to unite with other well meaning umbrella bodies in Nenwe, the traditional institutions, the Church and illustrious sons and daughters from the town to attempt to develop Nenwe through legitimate means.” We also pull strings to attract government patronage for the development of Nenwe.

These are no easy tasks but we are undaunted.  So far, the foundation has embarked upon some minimal projects without making noise about them. We have invited seven banks to open their branches in Nenwe. But after carrying out their feasibility studies of the town, the banks were unanimous that adequate security measures be put in place to ensure safe banking. They also concluded that the current Police Post in Nenwe is grossly inadequate to ensure safe banking.

Our Impacts

NIF examines key aspects of communal living in Nenwe town to identify inadequate conditions that pose huge threats to the wholesome existence of our rural dwellers. Attention is given to all facets of living condition in Nenwe comprising but not limited to:

1. Unemployment
2. Development
3. Health
4. Education
5. Security, and;
6. Other socio-political needs.

The overall benefit of these efforts is peace for the rural dwellers and Sons and Daughters of the land in diaspora.

So far, the Foundation has embarked on renovation of the Police Post in Nenwe to meet minimal standards for safe banking. In addition, the Foundation has started measures to request the government to upgrade the Police Post to a full fledged Police Division. We have drafted a building plan and we have approached government for approval. Many have asked why the Foundation is interested in attracting a Police Division of all government agencies. First, the Police is a federal government agency whose presence will improve the security of the town in spite of perceived negative impressions some Nigerians may have of the Nigerian Police. More importantly, getting an improved Police presence in Nenwe is a means to getting something else we need: Safe banking. It is inconceivable that there is no standard banking facility in the Old Awgu Division and that the nearest banking facility to Nenwe is in far away Enugu. This is unacceptable.

We know that we can not as a Foundation carry out all these projects alone. They require money, connections and hard work which only the Foundation can not carry. We are only providing the leadership currently missing in Nenwe to achieve all these. This is why we have invited you to this year’s end of the year party activities which include fund raising functions to raise some money to finance some of these projects.

The Foundation is also paying attention to other areas of human development particularly, Skill Acquisition and pursuit of higher education for our youths. To this end, the Foundation is discussing with the Management of the Nenwe Skills Acquisition Center to contribute in training some of the trainees at the Center and or to help them acquire some tools upon completion of their training programs.
